Hi Crew, by popular demand we will be running a second kayaking trip this weekend. The details are essentially the same as the first trip so I’ll repost Jane’s excerpt. This trip is suitable for people who have kayaked before and are confident swimmers. Continue reading for more info. Email or message if you have any questions. Cheers, Steve
There will be a kayaking day trip on Monday 28 March 2016 if you are in Adelaide over Easter. This is a fairly easy trip, but you should have been kayaking at least once before, and preferably know how to capsize and rescue your kayak. The weather will be mild, around 24 degrees max.We will go to Garden Island and maybe visit the Ships Graveyard, or kayak in the mangroves.
We will meet at the West Beach Boat Shed at 8.00 am, and should be back there by about 2.00 pm. If you have to catch a bus there should be instructions on our website, but if not email me for details.
Please bring your lunch in a waterproof bag (2 ziplock bags is best) and some snacks and a water bottle, as you get hungry kayaking and there are no shops. Bring a camera or phone, but only if you have something waterproof to keep it in. Also needed: towel and change of clothes for afterwards. There are toilets but no showers.
You will need to wear suitable boating clothes. This includes old sandshoes or boat shoes which can get wet – no thongs or crocks, and leave the socks home. A longsleeved shirt (synthetic) to shed water and protect from sunburn is good, also comfortable shorts or trackpants, shady hat, sunglasses if you like, sunscreen and mosquito repellant. If you get cold a light spray jacket will keep the wind off, and a thermal top or fleece can also be good in cooler weather.
AUMC will supply kayaks, paddles, spraydecks and some drybags for keeping your lunch in.
Bookings are closed for this event.
