Ever wanted to learn how to roll a kayak – that is, turn it the right way up after capsizing, with just a sweep of the paddle and flick of your hips, rather than actually getting out of the kayak? Rolling a kayak not only saves a huge amount of effort and time, and makes a useful “self-rescue” in the event you capsize, it’s a lot of fun.
This event is for people with some familiarity with kayaking, who want to extend their skills. We’ll be meeting at a private residence in Tranmere (I’ll email you the address when you register for the event) to use a swimming pool, where we can safely practice capsizing and rolling in relative comfort. The weather should be comfortable with a chance of showers, but we’re all going to be getting wet anyway so a little rain won’t matter. You should bring snacks and lunch (or money to get food from the local shops), bathers and a towel, and warm clothes to change into. If you have your own wetsuit please bring that, though some wetsuits can be provided by the club.
Bookings are closed for this event.
