Hi Mountain Club members,

There will be a kayaking day this coming Thursday  14 April at the Port Adelaide and Port River area. As we will paddle south along river to Port Adelaide, it will be a good chance if you are a kayak beginner or without any experience. We will wander around this area both in water and on land (Port Adelaide lighthouse & lunch), so if you aim to explore outside Adelaide city, don’t hesitate to come!

We will meet at the West Beach Boat Shed at 10am, and should be back there by about 4pm. Thursday’s weather looks fine though it will be quite cold if you get wet. Make sure you wear suitable boating clothes, preferable long-sleeved shirt and windbreakers to shed wind and protect from sunburn (sunglasses, sunscreen and hat will be good options too). Strongly recommend to wear closed shoes as we don’t know what is in the shore while getting on to boats.

You may bring your phone and camera with you but only if you have something waterproof to protect it from water. You must be a AUMC member to participate. AUMC has some drysacks for you to keep your lunch and phone/camera dry. Also, bring some money as we will have our lunch at Port Adelaide.

Spaces are limited to 6 participants, so please register as soon as possible. We will need transport for a few people—please note when you register if you have a car and can provide transport.

Reminder for what-to-bring:

Boating clothes (long sleeved top, shorts or leggings, closed shoes), sunshine protector (sunglasses, sunscreen, hat), waterproof bag (phone and camera), dry bag if you have one (towel and money), and a change of clothes for after the trip.

Hope to see you there! Email me at a1678409@nullstudent.adelaide.edu.au for any enquires.
