Point Lowly

Organiser: Zimmo
Meet At: Adelaide University Cloisters
Cost: petrol and camping

Greetings all.  I am proposing a snorkelling and walking trip over the weekend of 16 and 17 May. Trip there will take about four hours. I suggest we drive to Point Lowly (via Whyalla) to go snorkeling with the cuttlefish.  It was feared they had been eliminated by industrial development, but have (apparently) reappeared in numbers.  The water will be cold. You will need a wetsuit and snorkelling gear(snorkel, goggles and fins), and be able to swim in the sea.  I have a GoPro, so we can collect video.

I believe there is a partially constructed solar thermal ‘big dish’ at Whyalla which may be interesting to look at. I propose we stop on the way back, camp at Mt Remarkable/ Alligator Gorge, do a walk in the morning, and then return to Adelaide.  We can stop and view the wind farms if interested.

You will need camping gear (can be hired at low cost from AUMC). Transport and transport costs will be shared. Please let me know if you have a car and how many passengers you could take.
